Dog License

The Town of Payson requires a license on all dogs over four (4) months old that reside within the town limits.

You may obtain a dog license in the Community Development across the parking lot from the Police Department. Please verify that your dog’s rabies vaccination is current. You will need to bring your rabies certificate signed by a veterinarian stating the owner’s name and address, giving the dog’s description, date of vaccination, and expiration date of the vaccination. Community Development's business hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.

License fees are $7.00 per year for an altered dog and $20.00 per year for an unaltered dog. Service dogs are exempt from the fee, but still need to be licensed.

A license will be issued for a period to run concurrently with the dog’s current rabies vaccination, for a period of one (1), two (2), or three (3) years, but in no event shall the licensing period exceed the period of time for the revaccination.
