Library CardIn order to borrow materials, you must present a valid Library Card. All residents of Payson & the surrounding area, which include Star Valley, Pine, Strawberry, Tonto Basin, Christopher Creek, Forest Lakes, Heber, & Happy Jack may apply for a library card upon meeting the following requirements:

  1. Age requirements: 18 years or older. Children under the age of 18 years may apply for a card, but must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Parents/Guardians are responsible for anything checked out by their children.
  2. Valid Photo ID, plus proof of current Gila County mailing address. If a P.O. Box or HCR Box is used as a mailing address, a location of residence is also necessary. (Proof of mailing address may be utility bill, rent receipt, check/deposit slip, etc.)
  3. You must also supply the following information:
    1. Driver's License
    2. Date of Birth
    3. Name & phone number of a local reference, other than someone living in your household.

There is no fee for a library card. A yellow card will be issued free of charge. If, however the card is lost, a replacement fee of $1.00 will be charged.

Cardholding patrons may check out up to 30 items, provided they do not take every book on a specific subject or author. VIDEOS/DVDs are limited to 6 per family. Audio books, sound/music cassettes, and CD’s are limited to 6 per patron.

For liability reasons, you must have your Gila County Library Card or photo id with you in order to check out any items.

Borrowing Materials: A library is a cooperative effort and everyone benefits if all members participate fairly. We ask you to consider the following:

Please treat your library card seriously, like a credit card!

Don't allow anyone else to borrow items on your card -- you are financially responsible for items checked out on your card.

Please return items on time and in good condition.
